New Enemiesįestival of Blood changes things up quite a bit when it comes to the enemies Cole encounters. The second island from inFamous 2 is sealed off behind invisible walls. In this case, however, players can return to them at their whim and use the front and back exit to get across from on end of the city to another, if they so desire. They are reminiscent of the original inFamous in which Cole had to go underground to activate power generators to progress. Locations "I'm gettin' pregnant tonight!"Īs previously stated, the game still takes place in New Marais albeit only on the first island and only during the night for obvious reasons.Īn additional location is the catacombs where Cole starts out his adventure. Cole gains upgrades to his electrical powers, like cluster grenades, by completing side objective or combat goals. Gone, however, is the ability to choose different powers with the d-pad like it was in the main game. There is also vampire sense, which allows Cole to see hidden vampires among the civilians which he then can stealth-kill. He can use this power to one-hit kill enemies by flying into them and staking them. Among those abilities are turning into a swarm of bats, a power that allows Cole to fly in any direction as long as the meter lasts. He can bite and suck the blood of civilians to refill the corruption meter which is needed to use his new abilities, or kill Mary's crew to fill it in a more heroic way. In addition to possessing his usual electric superpowers, Cole also gains a few vampiric abilities.
While inFamous and inFamous 2 are on the disc, Festival Blood is included as a download code. Cole only has 8 hours to track down and kill his sire before sunrise or he permanently turns into a vampire and becomes one of Bloody Mary's servants.įestival of Blood was included in the inFamous Collection bundle, which was released at retail. It takes place in New Marais, the city in inFamous 2, during a local celebration called Pyre Night, and begins with Zeke siding up to a girl in a bar, relating the tale of Cole MacGrath being bitten by a vampire named Bloody Mary to impress her. It is a stand-alone game, and does not require inFamous 2 to play. You do have to take into account that this game is over a decade old at this point so it does show its age in a few places.InFamous: Festival of Blood is a downloadable title for the PlayStation Network.
PlayStations Finest, PS3 That isĪt the time of release, this was one of the best looking games on the system and I do feel that it holds up fairly well to this day. Your abilities can be upgraded as you play so there is a fantastic sense of progression all the way until the end of the game. As you progress you will learn new ways to use your electricity powers such as shooting electricity grenades or calling down lightning. This makes exploration even more fun than it usually is in a game like this.
He can climb, wall run, and get around the city in many cool ways. He moves around at a quick pace and he can even use his powers to fly and grind on tracks. Playing as Cole in inFamous is a great deal of fun. I really enjoyed this aspect of the game and I have played through as a hero and as a bad dude! Who Needs The Avengers? If you murder a bunch of people so those that you love can get all the food, that is bad! The main story also has some tough choices for you to make as well. For example, if you execute a bad guy instead of just restraining him that is bad. The meter will change depending on how you play the game. You have a meter that will either be blue for a hero or red for evil. The game has a morality system in place where you can make Cole be the kind of hero you want him to be.
Playing as Cole you get to do a ton of story missions, but there is also a lot of side missions and random stuff that you can do as well.
It is so good that I am surprised Hollywood has not come knocking to turn this into a movie yet! Be The Hero You Want To BeĪt its core, I would say that inFamous is an open-world superhero game. Oh, Cole has now also developed superpowers as he can use lightning! The story is great and told with these really well-done comic book style scenes. When he wakes up the city is in ruins with three gangs fighting for control and people who are stuck in a quarantine zone due to the explosion….
